My name is Patrick and I'm the bassplayer and founder of Mortalicum, a doom/metal -band from Sweden. Iv'e been into music since the early 80's and have been playing since the late 80's. Born in 72 and my favourite music is from the 70's and 80's.

Since I focus a lot on writing music myself I am really bad at finding out about new bands (old stuff and new stuff), but I must say this forum and the Doommantia -site is a deep well of information about all the great bands out there.... so, thanks for that!

And Ed, I'm sorry... I just realized that the poster about the coming gig I posted in the gig-section was bigger then the rules stated.

My name is Jan, I am from Slovenia and I am 17. I think I am typical Scorpio ( in horoscope) and typical melancholic person. I enjoy writing poetry, reading classic literature and philosophy. I am also playing bass guitar in my free time.

I love all subgenres of doom metal, my favorite subgenres are Traditional doom and death doom , and my favorite bands are Agalloch, Black Sabbath, My Dying Bride, Katatonia, Bathory... I really love doom metal with all passion. I also love some other metal genres like black, progressive, old school death metal and some stoner rock, progressive rock and classical music.

Well I feel like I might as well give a bio. =P

My name is Joey and I was born in Massachusetts in the United States in '89. I grew up in a smaller city that was turning into a larger city as I got older. The first time I listened to metal was in fourth grade while at my uncle's house. He showed me his collection which consisted of a lot of Metallica. Medadeth, and Iron Maiden. I didn't talk to many people throughout elementary school, just kept to myself and one friend. We played a lot of video games and listened to Metallica, Korn, any popular rock/metal pretty much. Then during my first year of highschool I met Brandon. He was a junior at the time but he lived near me so I saw him fairly often. He introduced me to marijuana and whole new types of metal which I completely fell in love with. During that time I got really interested black metal and was really into Immortal, Burzum, Emperor, etc. I also dug out other sounds like Neptune Towers, Cradle of Filth, even some trance music. Me and him generally stuck to our selves and just chilled out listening to metal. For the next few years I went through so many different fazes haha. I was into deathmetal for a while, then folk metal, industrial, prog, you name it I was listening to it. Once my friend left highschool I consider the next few years the dark ages of me listening to metal =P
I made a lot of new friends involved in a lot of stupid sh*t. at that point I only really listened to my music when I was home but most of the time I was getting screamed out of the house by my mother. I ended up dropping out early, getting a full time job, and living with a couple people in some sh*tty apartment. That is when I started listening to Doom and completely fell for the genre. Not long after, my life was going nowhere and I enlisted in the Marine Corps. One of the best/stupidest decisions of my life. I find myself sitting in Afghanistan at the moment and I don't know why the hell I'm here, haha. The only plus side to everything is that I will be home next summer, out of the Marines, and they will pay for my school.


Also I have ZERO music out here so I figured I needed to find a place to keep me up to date. And...I guess that's why I am here......so HI!

My name is Michael and I'm the founder of Nevertanezra. I'm a huge Heavy Metal fan and a Doom/Death, Funeral, Gothic/Doom FREAK! I've been into Metal in general since I was about 12-13 years old and I'm 28 now. I'm the tallest member of my band and pizza is my food of choice. Also I have a black lab named Mr. Grimm who can jump about 8-10 feet straight up in the air from a dead standstill. Any further questions please feel free to contact me.

I did for a while. A long time ago I worked for a fast food chain that made pizza and more or less everyday for about 3 years that's the bulk of what I ate. Its how I maintained my girlish figure, lol.

When I was still single, I ate pizza 3 to 4 times a week usually washed down with a few beers, needless to say my weight got totally out of control.

^^^^ I tell ya, no one knows more about doom than the doctor. He lives and breathes doom metal.

I have met Iommi too but unlike Dr.Doom it was for about 2 minutes at a airport. It was still cool though, it was during the Sabbath reunion tour. I also met Ozzy (the third time I had spoken to him), Geezer and Bill Ward. I got the inside of the Paranoid album signed by the whole band and now it sits proudly framed behind glass hanging in my bedroom.

Nice! I had tickets to see the reunion show but they cancelled the day of....still bitter about it. Also bitter that I never took the ticket back to get a refund (it was a gift).

My cousin got Slayers autographs on a CD insert (circa Diablos in Musica) for me and I've got that framed. Peter and Josh (from TON) autographed a ticket stub for me and I got a poster signed by Lacuna Coil. One of the cooler ones is that Doomonger from Worship autographed 'The Last CD Till Doomsday' for me too. I've got the first 7 GWAR albums autographed too, lol.

Cool, I have never been a autograph hunter really but I have a few, Lemmy, Ian Gillan, Jon Lord from Deep Purple, Wino and a few others and I still have my Kiss autographs from when I was 14 years old, that is kind of embarrassing as I hate Kiss these days.

My name is Oystein, I am 35 years old and from Norway. I have been into metal since the 80's and some of the first bands I liked was Motorhead, Stormwitch, Metallica, Ostrogoth, Possessed, Grim Reaper etc. I am not gonna get into all the bands I like but the last few years it has been more and more doom and I also like NWOBHM very much. Some of my absolute all time favorites include: Trouble, Black Sabbath, Pentagram and Pagan Altar. The previous Friday I saw Procession from Chile for the 3rd time in 2 years (all with different line-ups) and I think they are great. I try to travel for festivals to drink, meet people and listen to music. Doom Shall Rise must be my favorite festival, everything is right about it and you just need to be there to be able to know how it is.
Hope the presentation is good enough and I am looking forward to get to know some of you better.

Stewan here from Britanny (land of the druids) in France... I'm 42 years old, listening metal since 1982. I've been very active in the scene from 1988 to 1996, running two zines (Raging Metal and In My Veins) and managing a band who did 2 albums (Astral Rising); now I'm just a simple fan, always trying to discover great new bands, go to cool gigs, etc...
my fave styles mostly refer to doom metal, but I'm not afraid to say that I still listen old school death metal and old hard rock from the 70's.

By the way : anyone going to the ROADBURN in april ? I'm going there for the 1st time this year, it's been ages since I've done a fest in Holland (last time was at the Eindhoven's dynamo open air 17 or 18 years ago with THE OBSESSED and KYUSS !!!); of course I'm also going to the HELLFEST each year... always nice doom/stoner bands to see !

Hey guys, I'm Jayke. I am the other guitar player/songwriter of Nevertanezra, Mike (here known as NTNR) you have probably already seen. I have been into metal since I was 13 (about 10 years), but came around to doom last out of the multitude of metal subgenres. It's become one of my favorites styles of music, even though I have been listening for a relatively short time. Doom/death and funeral doom are my two favorites, but I've recently been coming around strongly to stoner, sludge, and traditional doom as well, although I still can't get into most drone stuff. Other interests besides doom and metal in general include beer, movies, and philosophy. I can see that I have plenty of learning/catching up to do as there is a great wealth of knowledge here, judging solely on the array of topics I have skimmed so far, and hope to have some pleasant conversation with you guys in addition to your glowing recommendations.

Hello everyone. This is Ankit Sinha from India. I am 20 years old (turning 21 in just 5 days from now) and I am mainly into everything which sounds heavy and appealing to my ears. My taste ranges from early Sabbath to the most brutal modern extreme death/black/grind. I mainly love old school death, death/doom, grind, funeral doom and some classic extreme thrash.
I am a Radio Jockey on Brutal Existence Radio, USA where I host India's only extreme metal radio show called as - Infernal Dominion on every Saturdays - 9 AM - 11 AM EST. The show specializes in death, black, grind, doom and even some crust and thrash.

I am doing vocals for this Norwegian progressive extreme/funeral doom project called as - MÜL and currently working on a full length called as ''Rites of Doom'' which is slated for a re-release this year with my vocal and lyrical contributions.

I have been reading articles and interviews on Doommantia and hence decided to join the forum, and I also have two fellow RJ's from BER, namely Kevin and Bob here . Looking forward to have a good time here.

Hello everyone!

My name is William and I'm really glad to have found this forum. I'm married to my wife Kacy and we have one son, Luka. They take up the vast majority of my time but when I get some free time, it's usually spent playing guitar, writing, reading, or watching movies. Right now I am a marketing representative for a home improvement company, which is their glorified way of saying a solicitor. It's work. Growing up, I'm sure I had the typical youth most of you had, especially when it comes to extra-curricular activities. I'm currently in school for web design, it's one of my non-musical passions and I've been writing websites since I was 10.

I got started with heavy metal when I was 12, my brother-in-law gave me a copy of Somewhere in Time by Iron Maiden and Master of Puppets by Metallica. It was all downhill from there, if you are to believe my parents I got into more classic rock like Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple and of course, Black Sabbath. I fell in love with Sabbath and they are still my favorite band. They led me to doom metal in general and the other genres that bow down to Sabbath (stoner, sludge, drone, etc.) . Some of my other favorite metal bands include: Electric Wizard, Down, Witchfinder General, Eyehategod, Sleep, High on Fire, Alabama Thunderpussy, The Sword, Witch, Weedeater, Bongzilla, Pentagram...you get the point. I like other genres of metal (especially black and NWOBHM) as well as classic rock, blues, classical, folk, and electronic but no use in bogging down this forum with those.

I was in a few death metal bands in high school and am currently in a black metal project with a friend. Would absolutely love to start a doom band but haven't found anyone in my area with the same kind of passion I have for doom. My set up, if any of you particularly care, is an Ibanez RG3EXFM01 (tuned to B standard) into a Electro-Harmonix Little Big Muff Pi and a Boss DS-1. The amp is a 50 watt Peavey 2x12 tube combo. I also have a Telecaster I use for more stoner rock/classic rock/blues stuff.

I do a lot of reading and also like writing, generally essays and short stories. My favorite author, if you couldn't guess from my username, avatar, and signature is H.P. Lovecraft. I also like Poe, Robert E. Howard, Nietzsche, Tolkien, etc. I also like mythology, religious texts, and philosophy. I love horror movies, from the silent era up to the modern day. Also a big sci-fi movie buff as well. It's so hard to pick favorites, but Nosferatu would probably be it.

That's the gist of it, hopefully that wasn't too long winded. I'm looking forward to participating here, writing reviews, maybe sharing some musical tips/riffs/ideas and all in all just getting to know everyone.

Ok, a bit about myself... I'm Justin, 32, a widower, have two daughters, and live in Pennsylvania (US). I've been listening to metal since the early 90's, but I didn't get into doom and such until fairly recently. I started off listening to Metallica, Megadeth, Corrosion of Conformity, etc. and got hooked. Eventually I wanted to find more bands with that doomy, black sabbathy sound, and I guess that's how I got here (actually I got here from a mention of the forum on the Crestfallen podcast). I've been playing guitar for about 16 years and bass for 2 or 3. Unfortunately I haven't been in a band since I was in high school, but I'd like to join/form another band eventually.
