| I just posted mine in the "Talk about your record/CD collection" thread in general discussion, but I think a seperate topic would be great To rehash, I got the following over the course of the week: Pentagram - Last Rites (Ltd. color vinyl) Apostle Of Solitude - Sincerest Misery (handnumbered ltd. vinyl) Ulver - Nattens Madrigal (re-issued vinyl) Graveyard - Hisingen Blues (Ltd. color vinyl) And awaiting: The Grotesquery - Tales Of The Coffin Born (Ltd. vinyl) I'd love to get Pentagram's First Daze Here soon, since it's pretty much the album that made me fall in love with them. I hope to find the vinyl edition for a decent price somewhere soon (I think it only came out in Canada in a limited supply, if I recall correctly). There's so much stuff on my to-buy list |

| Iron Man ā Dominance EP and the Paradise Lost re-release was the very last things I actually pay for. I generally don't have to buy much anymore, 80% of it I get for free. I used to spend $500+ a month on music, now its around $150 and nearly always limited edition type stuff, mostly vinyl. _________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

I have had a weird experience with Acid Witch. When I bought the first album, I played it so much that now it bores the hell out of me. I am going out of my way not to do that with the last one. I totally love their concepts though, the lyrics, the art - its awesome._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

| Last night I swung by Weirdo Records in Cambridge MA. Great little record store that only sells really really weird stuff.
I got two tapes, two 7"s, and an 8-track for $10. the 8-track is new too. it's this guy from maine that makes all sorts of strangeness called ID M Theftable.
One of the tapes is some killer drone stuff by these guys called "The Fortieth Day".
the 7"s were both old garage rock kind of stuff.

| I just got the new MDB release 'Evinta' and it was NOT what I was expecting. Its minimalistic, ambient, classical music with very sparse vocals, 0 guitars and almost 0 drums. I got the triple disc book version and I really enjoy what I got. The book is more or less a visual history of the band with a paragraph or two thrown in every so many pages briefly describing what was going on at the time. Its more or less the singers wet dream come true. It was fun trying to figure out which songs I was hearing and then trying to remember what album they were from. Its worth getting if you're a die hard MDB fan only. _________________ http://www.facebook.com/pages/Nevertanezra/163179627054889 http://www.myspace.com/nevertanezra http://www.youtube.com/user/NTNR1

This is getting high up on my review list, a review should be up for it within a week or so but I am still in two minds about it. I am NOT a MDB fan anyway but this album I find great at times, but boring at other times. I don't know if its the classical thing or what but something fails to keep my attention. _________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

| I swung by Armaggedon records in Harvard Sq. (cambridge MA) on saturday. I got a Quiet Riot-Bang Your Head 7", "Louder Than Hell" 7" comp, which has Toxic Narcotic, Municipal Waste, Hirax, The Accused, and Voetsek. Killer stuff. and I got the 12" of "Thirsty and Miserable" by Saint Vitus. been listening to that one non-stop. |

| The last thing I ever bought was a Electric Wizard hoodie, cost me $60 including postage. The funny thing is I didn't look at it closely enough. It has a spread-legged naked woman on a altar on the front lol, damn I wont be able to wear it anywhere, it is far too explicit. _________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

| I love Electric Wizard, but I have to say, their shoit is way too effing expensive. I don't know if it is just the label or what the deal is. I would have bought one of their records on saturday, but they were all like $40. eff that, I need to pay rent. |

Yeah it is a label thing, all official EW merch is overpriced but everything that comes from their label is like that. I bought a black masses shirt when the album first came out, cost me $26 with the postage and it looks great but the shirt itself is like the lowest quality material you can get. For that much money you should get a high quality thick shirt, not a shirt so thin it feels like it is going to ripped apart every-time you put it on. _________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

Yeah that is a bummer man. They should do more DIY kind of stuff IMO. Not totally switch to that, but at least some non-label side stuff like The Melvins and other bands do a lot.

| I buy a lot of EW merch because I love their artwork, t-shirt designs and vinyl packages but man, you pay through the nose for the stuff. I agree it should be a more DIY approach and stuff should be cheaper. They claim to be a band for the people yet most of their gear is so expensive. I think in these cases, you can't blame the band. As far as I know EW has little to do with their merchandise but yep, too costly. I have always admired bands like Sourvein & Weedeater, they have great shirts and they are all under $15. I bought a Sourvein shirt a few months back, $13 delivered to my door and it is super high-quality. _________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

I know what you mean! I bought a Weedeater t-shirt for 10 euros at their concert and another one for 5 after the end of the show...They wanted to sell out and they did it!

Yeah those bands are great because they want as many fans as possible to have their shirts and other merchandise so they keep the costs right down. I know these labels like Rise Above, Relapse etc have to make money but they don't need to make THAT much money. It is mostly greed. I know you can get a good quality two-sided shirt made for around $5 a piece or less if you order enough of them so to turn around and charge $30 - $40 for a shirt is a rip-off. Clothing like hoodies cost a lot more but even then $20 - $25 is a fair price, not $50 - $60. CD's are usually made for around $2 at the most a piece so you can do the math on how much profit some people are making off this stuff._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |
