LEGALISE DRUGS AND MURDER..ELECTRIC WIZARD RELEASE NEW SONG ON 7" VINYL!!

The
apocalyptic first recordings from the much anticipated 8th studio LP
from ELECTRIC WIZARD will be released as a vinyl only 7" on March 31st
at their forthcoming LONDON FORUM show. It is the first of a number of
vinyl only releases set to promote the , as yet, untitled and unfinished
LP.
Recording of the new LP has already commenced but will not be
completed until later this year and as a result the band have decided to
release certain songs and exclusive B-sides on the vinyl format.
The
A-side 'Legalise Drugs and Murder' is a cathartic anthem for the 'lost'
generation, a gargantuan 70s styled Doom Stomper and the perfect 7"
single. Ultra-catchy and featuring the bands trademark 'wall of fuzz'
sound, topped with an evil, sneering vocal.
The band had a few words
about the 'controversial' subject matter "…the new song is a definitive
statement on the ELECTRIC WIZARD cult…we demand total freedom and
revolution….man, things have got bad , the world is evil…." and on the
development of their sound "…it has to be primal and violent, y'know cos
we wanna get to people..and it had to be anthemic to inspire
revolutionary thoughts. We wanted to be SLADE and SABBATH meets the
Baader-Meinhoff Gang…"
The B-side is an even more twisted journey.
Inspired by deranged eurohorror/giallo soundtracks of the 70s , 'Murder
and Madness' is a claustrophobic meditation on the themes of the A-side.
A paranoiac brooding number created with vicious wah guitar and
discordant organ and piano that rises in intensity to a crescendo of
sadism.
Yet again ELECTRIC WIZARD raise the bar of Doom Metal in just
two songs from super-heavy 70s glam rock stomp to a purely visceral and
sadistic art rock experience.
Raise your fists with ELECTRIC WIZARD and scream "Legalise Drugs and Murder' on March 31st....

Well i just got an erection... cheers

Another example of how pathetic musical tastes are in this country, a doom metal album gets to number 2 in Finland. Here it won't crack the top 500.

New Pale Divine Album cheers

PALE DIVINE - Painted Windows Black
SKR051CD
Release Date: March 27, 2012
CD
$12.00
For
the past 15 years, PALE DIVINE have grinded its teeth into the ultimate
sounds of classic 70's Rock and Doom Metal. They have come a long way
and really carved their own niche and sound in the underground, slicing
off influences from dinosaurs like BLACK SABBATH, LEAFHOUND, SIR LORD
BALTIMORE, CANDLEMASS, TROUBLE, ST. VITUS, JUDAS PRIEST, IRON MAIDEN,
the legendary Maryland Doom Metal scene headed by
PENTAGRAM/BEDEMON/DEATH ROW, ASYLUM, THE OBSESSED, IRON MAN, etc. Coming
into their 4th full length release, the band has nailed down their best
album to date. Along with the supreme writing this album has to offer,
the recording is top shelf for their style in the Doom Metal genre. Old
PALE DIVINE fans will not be disappointed and I could see this album
attracting new fans as well.

1. Nocturne Dementia
2. The Prophet
3. Angel Of Mercy
4. End Of Days
5. Black Coven
6. The Desolate
7. Shadow Soul (The Awakening)
8. Painted Windows Black

Available at SKR and Europe - North American release date is March 27th if you're waiting for it to arrive in your major stores.

Amazing the difference between European countries and here, well actually it is depressing, this country is so narrow-minded and pre-programmed with its musical tastes. I remember years ago talking to one of the guys out of Spiritual Beggars, their album On Fire had just gone number one in Greece and it was number 2 in Sweden and yet they couldn't even get the album distributed in the US so it was only available as a import for a long time. It truly sucks ass.

Abaton, have released their first videoclip! I saw them with Forgotten Tomb and they blew my mind. I really recommend them, they play black/doom with Sludge and Drone metal influences. Their double vocalists attack makes them really special..

The long-awaited new album from U.S. doom legends SAINT VITUS, "Lillie: F-65", will hit the stores this spring via Season Of Mist. Due to "manufacturing issues," the North American release date will be announced later. The CD is tentatively due on April 13 in the rest of the world.

In the meantime, SAINT VITUS will release a seven-inch single featuring "Blessed Night", a track from "Lillie: F-65". The B-side is a live version of classic VITUS tune "Look Behind You", recorded in December 2010 at Z7 in Pratteln, Switzerland.

The "Blessed Night" seven-inch single is limited to 1,000 hand-numbered copies. Pre-order it at this location.

Speaking to Terrorizer magazine, SAINT VITUS frontman Scott "Wino" Weinrich stated about the band's new album title, "Y'know the reason we called it 'Lillie: F-65'? It was a powerful downer back in our day and well, Dave [Chandler, guitar] really had a thing for his downers."

SAINT VITUS' current lineup features Chandler, drummer Henry Vasquez, bassist Mark Adams and Weinrich.

"Making this album was really a blast," said Chandler. "Being able to live in an environment where all we had to concentrate on was the new material, became very inspiring. And along with our new drummer, Henry Vasquez, and label, Season Of Mist, this record has given us a new opportunity to show everyone that we still have more to shove in your face."

When asked why he thinks SAINT VITUS' music continues to resonate, Wino said in an interview, "Because it comes from the gut. The music has that low tone and it hits you in those emotional places. I've always tried to make the lyrics just as interesting as the music. It's always been a little bit dark but I'm not drawn to the happy stuff. I like music that grabs you by the balls."

"Superskum" (web site) has uploaded quality video footage of SAINT VITUS performing the song "Blessed Night" on March 29, 2011 in Denver, Colorado. Check out the clip below.

MAIDEN ON THE CHARGE

Iron Maiden announce "Maiden England World Tour" with extensive dates in North America this summer

Very Special Guest Alice Cooper to July 21, Coheed and Cambria after July 21.

Following the massively successful Final Frontier World Tour 2010-11, IRON MAIDEN are back on the road this summer with a series of Arena, Amphitheatre and Festival shows in the U.S.A. and Canada, opening in Charlotte, NC, U.S.A. on June 21, and finishing in Houston, TX, on Aug 18 (dates listed below), to be followed by further dates around the World in 2013. The MAIDEN ENGLAND WORLD TOUR will closely mirror, in terms of production and content, the original 1988 concert video of the same name, shot on the “Seventh Son Of A Seventh Son Tour”. This opening section of the World Tour is the band’s most extensive visit to North America for many years and includes a number of cities the band have not played in a very long time, such as Charlotte, Atlanta, Buffalo, Indianapolis and Salt Lake City.

In most venues, tickets will go on sale on March 2 and 3 but watch this site or check local venue information for fuller details. Fan Club members should check out ironmaiden.com for exclusive first day ticket presales and contest to be ‘First To The Barrier’.

MAIDEN ENGLAND marks the third chapter in the History of Iron Maiden, a journey which began in 2004 with The Early Days DVD and subsequent 2005 Early Days Tour. Part Two followed in 2008 with the Live After Death DVD - the seminal 1984 concert recorded at Long Beach Arena (L.A) during the World Slavery Tour - and the band embarking on their groundbreaking Somewhere Back In Time World Tour 2008/9, which saw them play to over two million fans in almost 40 countries.

Comments vocalist Bruce Dickinson, “We have great fun playing the History of Maiden Tours because it gives us an opportunity between new albums to go out and play songs from our earlier catalogue. It’s always fantastic seeing the crowd reaction from a new generation of fans who have never experienced some of these tracks performed live before, and of course we know our longstanding fans will enjoy seeing the original Seventh Son Tour re-visited - with many other surprises! Our intention is to play about two thirds of the original track list of Maiden England (shown below*), including some songs we have not played live in a very, very long time, plus other favourites we just know the fans are going to want to hear! We always try to give our fans a great show musically, but we have always tried to make it as entertaining and memorable an experience as we can visually. And we all feel this show is going to do that splendidly! We can't wait to get started in Charlotte”.

Iron Maiden are delighted to announce that the extraordinary and legendary Alice Cooper will be their Very Special Guest on all shows up to July 21. After that date, Special Guest will be Coheed and Cambria, the inspiring, cutting edge band from New York.

Iron Maiden continue to be actively dedicated to ensuring their fans always have full access to the best possible tickets in the fairest possible way. Manager Rod Smallwood comments:

“We are trying to ensure that our fans get the tickets they want in the prime positions without paying over the odds to ticket scalpers. Maiden get infuriated with the way fans sometimes have to pay more than the ticket price to get good positions at our shows. So we will, wherever possible (Festivals excluded), with the assistance of the Promoters, arrange a paperless ticketing system at least for the front sections to try to eliminate as much of the ticket scalping and exchanges as we can. We put this into practice on our North American Tour in 2010; it worked well and we received many positive comments back from our fans, so we intend to increase this where feasible. With paperless ticketing, only those who actually pay initially for the tickets will get into the show so scalping is generally avoided (please see the comments from Ticketmaster below). We are also doing everything we can to avoid any drain of prime tickets going to the Secondary Ticketing sites which we feel make unfair profits from music fans.

As we consider all our fans to be VIPs, no tickets will be held specifically for VIP use. At some venues, the Promoter may provide the option for fans to pay extra for “VIP Parking”, early access, access to “VIP Bar” etc. But these will be purely optional for ticket holders only and will not be tied to ticket locations – the ability to get the best tickets should be the same for everybody outside of the usual presales.

Finally, we are of course once again arranging exclusive ticket pre-sales for our fan club members so they can be quick off the mark for great tickets and will also continue to run the contest in appropriate venues for fan club members so they can be ‘First To The Barrier’ prior to the show. We hope that these measures will help our fans as much as possible and ask that they keep checking for details on our website.”

TICKETMASTER comments:
Where possible the North American Iron Maiden shows will operate a paperless ticket policy. Select tickets will be sold via Ticketmaster’s Paperless Ticket delivery, which means fans will not receive a physical concert ticket for their entry into the event. Buying paperless helps ensure fans have secure and convenient access to event tickets at the intended original sale price. On the day of show, concert goers just need to bring the credit card they used for the ticket purchase and a government-issued photo ID to the concert. All members of the ticket purchaser's party must be present at the same time to enter the venue. The venue’s ticket usher will swipe their credit card upon entry and present each person in their party with seat locator slips for quick access into the show. To purchase paperless tickets or for more information, fans should visit www.ticketmaster.com/paperless or call the Ticketmaster charge-by-phone number at 1-800-745-3000.

In Sweden Graveyard wins, In the US it is the Foo Fighters - WTF is wrong with this country?

GRAVEYARD was honored with the "Best Hard Rock/Metal" award at the Swedish "Grammis" gala, which was held last night (Tuesday, February 14) at Kungliga Operan in Stockholm.

The nominees in the "Best Hard Rock/Metal" category were as follows:

* GRAVEYARD - "Hisingen Blues"
* HAMMERFALL - "Infected"
* IN FLAMES - "Sounds Of A Playground Fading"
* OPETH - "Heritage"
* THE HAUNTED - "Unseen"

The bands were all nominated for their most recent releases, all of which came out during 2011.

Last year's Grammis award in the "Best Hard Rock" category went to WATAIN for the band's "Lawless Darkness" album.

GRAVEYARD's second full-length album, "Hisingen Blues",
sold 1,000 copies in the United States in its first week of release.
The CD landed at position No. 48 on the Top New Artist Albums
(Heatseekers) chart, which lists the best-selling albums by new and
developing artists, defined as those who have never appeared in the Top
100 of The Billboard 200.

"Hisingen Blues" entered the official chart in Sweden at position No. 1. The CD, which was released in North America on April 19, 2011 via Nuclear Blast Records, was produced, recorded, and mixed in 100 percent analog by Don Alsterberg (JOSÉ GONZALES, JUNIP, SOUNDTRACK OF OUR LIVES, THE INTERNATIONAL NOISE CONSPIRACY) at Don Pierre Studios in Gothenburg, Sweden.

BLUE CHEER, considered by some to be the Godfathers of heavy metal, are back.On October 12, 2009, BLUE CHEER bassist and lead singer Richard Allan “Dickie” Peterson after a long fight against cancer. Tony Rainier, BLUE CHEER‘s guitarist from 1977 to 1988, recorded and toured with Peterson and has continued his guitar arrangements and songs for the band’s resurgence. Along with Tony in the group’s current incarnation is Luke Ayoso of the 1980s hard rock/glam band FRENCHEE on vocals, bass and lead guitar and a drummer to be announced.

ShroomAngel Records is planning to release several vinyl LPs and compact discs in order to showcase the Tony Rainier period of BLUE CHEER. One album currently being put together by the label consists of previously unreleased studio recordings made in 1978. ShroomAngelwill also be culling together a live two-LP set featuring the band during their comeback tour of 1984 and on into 1985. A brand new vinyl LP is to also be released with a tour hopefully by the summer.Commented BLUE CHEER‘s longtime manager Mike Bodack: “For those who had no right to say that BLUE CHEER is done, wake up! Dickie wouldn’t want that. So all you 1%er’s wake up, because, as Dickie would say, ‘We need ya!’ Keep BLUE CHEER going. The name and music will live on. See ya on the road soon. We are BLUE CHEER and this is what we will always do.”
Visit ShroomAngel Records on Facebook for more information.

BLUE CHEER‘s last U.S. tour (featuring Peterson, founding drummer Paul Whaley, and guitarist Andrew “Duck” MacDonald) was in support of their 2007 release, “What Doesn’t Kill You…”, and had the band playing shows with the fourth generation of bands to follow in their path. Plans were underway for the band to tour in support of the 2009 Rainman Records DVD release of “Blue Cheer Rocks Europe” when Dickie‘s cancer was found. Tour plans were put on hold, but the first full-length concert DVD in the band’s more-than-forty-year history was released without delay. The DVD includes not only the concert footage with 5.1 audio, but also included a Peterson voiceover commentary and a complete interview with the late leader of the band.

That piece of news truly suprised me...

Damn it has been a bad day for heart attacks. Somebody famous just died from a heart attack, I think it was Davy Jones. I found that surprising as my mother just saw him perform not too long ago.

It had to happen didn't it?

Kyuss Lawsuit

Earlier tonight, we received the unfortunate news that the delicate
balance that allowed Kyuss Lives! to exist and tour without founding
member Joshua Homme has begun to unravel.

We’ve learned that
underhanded business tactics may have taken place in order to secure
rights over the original Kyuss name – the legendary Rock band that
consisted of Homme, Brant Bjork and John Garcia, and later Nick Oliveri,
Scott Reeder, Alfredo Hernández and others during its existence between
1988 and ‘95. Within the past several months, while amicable meetings
were taking place concerning the future of Kyuss Lives, steps were
allegedly being taken to establish ownership over the Kyuss name,
something which Homme & Reeder were entirely unaware of.

The
band Kyuss Lives! has been touring for the past year, playing original
Kyuss songs without Homme & Reeder (though Scott joined the band on
select 2011 dates). To fans’ delight, Homme & Reeder had
consistently wished the members of Kyuss Lives! well, and their business
arrangements had been seemingly productive. The idea of a new studio
record was on fans’ minds, but seemed a nonstarter idea for a band using
an altered name, only touring on older material. However it appears as
if steps were being taken by the newer incarnation of the band to
capitalize further, which ultimately has undermined the arrangement
between friends that had allowed Kyuss Lives! to operate.

A statement from Scott Reeder and Homme:

Kyuss
partnership members Scott Reeder and Joshua Homme have regretfully had
to file a federal lawsuit against John Garcia and Brant Bjork AKA Kyuss
Lives! The suit alleges trademark infringement, misrepresentation, false
designation, etc.

“It sucks. To think we went to a meeting in
January solely to help them with their request to continue Kyuss Lives!
With open arms, we made every attempt to help them continue Kyuss Lives!
respectfully. Only to discover while they looked us in the eye, Kyuss
Lives! management and band had filed federal documents in 2011 in an
attempt to steal the name Kyuss.”

This is desperately what we
were trying to avoid. It’s a sad day for us and for John - but most of
all for the fans. What a needless mess.

It’s undoubtedly
difficult on any side of the equation to envision John Garcia scheming
to pull a bad one over on his old bandmate. As fans, we can only hope
that it was the business people behind the sleight of hand. Either way,
it appears that this will play out in a courthouse now between sharks in
suits, rather than old friends with heartfelt intent.

When me and Ed saw Kyuss lives Garcia made a smart-ass comment about Homme and Reeder, something about "who needs them." I got the feeling right then, something wasn't right.

This is one of the reasons I hate reunions. It is usually all about money and not the music. Once again capitalism rears its ugly head and triumphs over music.

Agreed. I still hate that change that successful bands seem to make all to often from wanting to just get noticed and get their music out there to lining their pockets regardless of the costs. To bastardize a quote that i recently heard from Oliver Wilde in the new Rum Diary movie, they know the price of everything and the value of nothing.

Yes, it all comes to down bleeding out every last penny than can muster. Then there is the jealousy angle where ex-members can't stand to see others making money off music they all created. It has led to dozens of law-suits for dozens of bands over the last 40 years.

I don't find this surprising at all but it is sad. Homme had a chance to be part of this and he refused but gave the rest of the band his blessings but now that it is a success, he wants to sue and start trouble. Seems like a low-act to me.

From the sounds of it Homme is responding to the disrespect (in terms of their comments at live shows) and under handed dealing (in terms of them appealing for the legal rights to the name Kyuss without informing him) of the other members or their legal representation...not trying to fill his billfold.

From Blabbermouth:

Former KYUSS bassist Scott Reeder has commented on the reaction to the news that he and fellow ex-KYUSS member Josh Homme (guitar) have filed a federal lawsuit against other former KYUSS members John Garcia (vocals) and Brant Bjork (drums) alleging "trademark infringement and consumer fraud" over the use of the KYUSS name.

Garcia, Bjork and ex-KYUSS bassist Nick Oliveri reunited for shows last year under the KYUSS LIVES! banner, in which they were joined by guitarist Bruno Fevery.
The band has since toured on both sides of the Atlantic and is said to
be currently working on a live album for a late 2012 release. There are
also tentative plans for the group to record a brand new studio CD.

Homme and Reeder released a statement on Saturday via public relations firm Nasty Little Man in which they claimed that they "made every attempt to help [Garcia, Bjork and Oliveri] continue KYUSS LIVES! respectfully. Only to discover while they looked us in the eye, KYUSS LIVES! management and band had filed federal documents in 2011 in an attempt to steal the name KYUSS. This is desperately what we were trying to avoid."

Writing on his Facebook page earlier today (Sunday, March 11), Reeder
said, "Maaaaaaan, I've been called every foul name in the book [on
Saturday], and all I did was make a choice to stand up to defend and
retain small rights that I should be able to keep sacred and unhindered
for the rest of my life and beyond. I didn't have much of a choice: lose
all of the rights in two weeks, or keep them forever. I didn't choose
to be in this situation at all — I was forced to react very quickly with
a looming deadline, and it's been rough. I saw people bitterly divided
[yesterday] over this stupid stuff… crazy. But the overwhelming support
from friends and family was very much appreciated and needed. Thank
you."

Reeder played a handful of European live dates with KYUSS LIVES! last year as a fill-in for Oliveri. He was also a "special guest" at KYUSS LIVES!'s homecoming show on November 18, 2011 at The Wiltern in Los Angeles.

Reeder played bass on KYUSS' classic LPs "Welcome to Sky Valley" and "...And the Circus Leaves Town" and was also a member of doom legends THE OBSESSED.

Regarding why Homme is not involved in the KYUSS reunion, Garcia previously told Rock Sound magazine, "I have nothing bad to say about Josh
— he's extremely intelligent, very smart, a great guitar player, great
songwriter, a great vocalist — he is a bad-ass, there is no question,
and I love him dearly but he is busy with his own thing. He has THEM CROOKED VULTURES, QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE,
he's a father, a businessman and even if we asked him to do it, I don't
think he'd say yes, so I don't want to set myself up for a big fat no
which is 99.9 percent what he would say."

In a 2010 interview, Homme explained his hesitation to participate in a KYUSS reformation.

"The
offers come in all the time," he said. "They're getting more and more
expensive, and more and more elaborate. The money is crazy, but I've
never been tempted — I don't really care about the money, I never have.
That's not what KYUSS was about, so to punctuate the end of our sentence with that would be blasphemy… KYUSS has such a great history that it would be a total error. I like that nobody saw KYUSS, and that it was largely misunderstood. That sounds like a legend forming to me. I'm too proud of it to rub my dick on it."

Dio statue in Bulgaria. It was commissioned by the major of the city. That is something that would never happen here.

I spoke to a woman who looked like Dio yesterday. Shocked Just not right, says I.
