I didn't see this topic anywhere in the forum and this seems like the right subforum for it. What's everyone currently reading?

Between reading school textbooks I'm trying to slog my through George R. R. Martin's "A Dance with Dragons". I've been following the Song of Ice and Fire series since the second book and pretty much re-read the series whenever a new book is published. This new one is somewhat of a letdown and the story seems to have gotten away from Martin a bit. Supposedly he has an end in mind, so hopefully he can pull all of threads together in two more books. The dude isn't very prolific so it could be awhile, but if he truly has an end in mind maybe it'll be a bit quicker than the writing of previous books.

I finished that one a while ago. I liked it, I'm still interested in everything that's happening, so no complaints from me. Currently I'm reading The Name of the Wind and have hit a huge wall near the end where I'm having a hard time staying interested enough to just push on through...

After I do finish though I have two books to pick from: The Blade Itself and A Deepness in the Sky.

Yeah, I'm still interested in the story and invested in the characters, it's just not the page-turner that the first three books were.

I haven't read The Name of the Wind, but I've heard a lot of good things and a few people have recommended it to me.

Yes it is. His battle with Cocaine addiction was extreme so there are some interesting stories there. If you are a fan, you probably know 99% of it already but it is still a good read. This might seem weird but I think Purple was the band that suited Hughes the least. I love Purple but Hughes to me sounds much better in Trapeze and in his solo work than with Purple.

I don't know much outside of Sabbath and Purple and I am not a big fan of those two eras, but I would like to know everything connected to Sabbath Smile

I haven't got to the Sabbath era in the book as yet but I have scanned through the pages and there doesn't seem to be much on that era anyway so I wouldn't buy it for that alone. I am not a big fan of the Hughes/Purple era either. Burn was solid but it went downhill after that.

Nice, I'm a pretty big Camus fan. His short story collection "Exile and the Kingdom" does a nice job of boiling down the existential viewpoint and definitely showcases the absurd. I also really liked "The Stranger".

I haven't read Exile and the Kingdom so far, but I had read The Stranger and it is a masterpiece

The Stranger was excellent, i've heard Exile and the Kingdom is good from a philosophical point but not a good sample of Camus' nonfiction work in general.

I second that notion...excellent author. You can get his anthology/collected works from amazon for like $17.

It'll have to go on the 'list'. And the 'list' is already pretty long, and definately longer than my wallet.

Just finished The Name of The Wind... ending saved it for me and now I do want to continue with the next one. Fliped a coin and started reading The Blade Itself by Joe Abercrombie. So far so good.

Just finished. I havn't flown through a book this fast in along time. So into it, instead of reading one of the many books I actually have to read, I'm going to have to go get the next two in this series... good-bye once again spending money.

Great book! There's some pretty dark stuff in there. Child of God and Blood Meridian are really good, too.

Yeah, Dracula is excellent. It's funny, I have a leather bound copy that also includes Frankenstein. I've read Dracula about three times and have never gotten around to reading Frankenstein. It's up there on my list, though.

I just finished The Hunger Games (My girlfriend was going to make me see it anyway, might as well read it)

Started Tony Iommi - Iron Man
I am digging it so far

Next will be some HP Lovecraft

Ugh. The Hunger Games. I just need to remember that it's YA, and all my complaints don't matter to 14 year olds.

I gaurantee that the Lovecraft stuff will be better. Because he's awesome. Racist as shit, but an awesome writer.

Yeah my girlfriend is reading the hunger game series right now...she's tried talking me into to reading but i don't compromise on that sort of shit. I am currently in the midst of reading The Case of Charles Dexter Ward...no one can touch Howard Phillips. Just about done with Crowley's Book 4 too and when i'm done with that i plan on beginning Beyond Good and Evil or The Devil Rides Out not sure yet.

I haven't read that so far, but I have it prepared on my Kindle... I love Nietzsche, even if I am more an opponent of his philosophy...
