| A lot of people don't like Sabbath's Live at Last, I didn't like it either at first but I love it now. I love Grand Funk's live album, that album is about as live as you can get, no overdubs and it feels like you are in the front row. Still have a soft spot for Kiss Alive I & II even though I haven't listened to them for years. |

| Awesome, logged in at just the right time. I adore live albums. Grand Funk's and Humble Pie's are two of my favorites. |

| Great idea for a poll. I hate live albums that are not really 100% live so Priest and Kiss get no votes from me. |

| I admit I am not familiar with most of the live albums on the list, but Tokyo Tales is the best live album I have heard so far _________________ The music lives outside reality's walls And we are it'd door to our dimension It comes through our emotions It runs through our art And come out from our veins From our pains ( Novembre)

| The only album off of that list I own is Made In Japan. That's a really good album.
I think that most live albums are more like 'best-of' albums. The best live albums are therefore albums where the bands are allowed expand on their sound. Jimi Hendrix is a perfect example of this. Band Of Gypsys is one of the best records of all time including both studio and live albums. |

Agreed, the best live albums are the ones that truly sound live so a bit raw and the ones where the bands improvised and extend songs. Most live albums though either have a budget kind of vibe and seem like cheap cash-in best of/greatest hits kind of releases or they studio-enhanced to the point to where they don't sound live at all. Unleashed in the East and the Kiss live albums are classic examples of that. Some live albums just sound sterile - Maiden's Live after Death or sound muddy - Sabbath's Live at Last. I love live albums but all the best ones were released pre 75, very few released after that have that true live feeling._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

Hendrix was a true live wizard and a true live performer. You can listen to 100 different versions of one of his songs and they will all be slightly different. Sometimes it might not work but that is what is good about it, the total unpredictability. Early Deep Purple was great like that too, the jams were so off-the-cuff that they never sounded quite the same._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

Yeah I agree on the Hendrix thing. I have my eyes set on the 3 Nights At Winterland box set for next month's music purchases. It has five different versions of Purple Haze and I look forward to exploring the differences in those songs. |

There is another good box set called "Stages," four concerts from 67, 68, 69 and 1970. Some of the concerts he performs the same songs but they all sound totally unique and different from each other._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

I agree 100% with this Ed. Live albums are not the same anymore and haven't been that way since the 80's. The early 70's live albums really captured the band live where as later on live album became too polished. |

Yeah live albums should sound live, even if it has mistakes on it, otherwise why release a live album._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

Hawkwind Motorhead
followed by Made In Japan (I was a teenager, at some point, ha ha) and... Double Live Gonzo. I'm not a big Ted Nugent fan, but god knows why, listened to this one a lot.
BUT HOW THE HELL "ON YOUR FEET OR ON YOUR KNEES" BY BöC CAN BE ABSENT FROM THIS LIST ?????????????? and also the MC5's "Kick out the jams" !!!!! _________________ http://www.reverbnation.com/pinballlizard http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pinball-Lizard-The-Acid-Kings/345988102081514

I think that BOC live album is one of the last truly great live albums ever to be released. That came out mid 70's and there hasn't been much else of that quality since. No Sleep Till Hammersmith and a couple of others are the exceptions but really not much else._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |
