| Alright, this poll and discussion might go nowhere but what the hell, I love 70's Cooper but have only liked two albums since 79 which Brutal Planet and Dragontown.
Any opinions on Alice? _________________ I've got a 12 ton demon on my back Whispering shit in my brain

| I loved Cooper till he turned in a Hollywood celeb and starting playing golf with people like Bob Hope and started appearing on game shows and The Muppets. He totally lost his edge by 77. He is even worse now, he is a reborn Christian and about as threatening and scary as a bowl of jello.. My pick - Killer. |

Killer is my pick too and I agree 100%. I have seen him live a good dozen times, maybe more and his performances have become more like a cabaret show each time. Yes, he still does the guillotine and all that but it is so tired and predictable now, it is like a Kiss show. There is only so many times you can still do the same thing before it becomes stale and Cooper became stale 20 years ago. I grew up listening to Cooper, followed his releases from Schools Out onwards. By the time From the Inside was released which was a alright album, he had become too lightweight and predictable. He then changed his style, look and stageshow and got even worse._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

Halo of Flies is my favorite Cooper tune but Love it To Death is my favorite album. I can see why Dr.Doom is saying too. It is a bit hard to be this shock rocker when you are hob-bobbing with Hollywood celebs. Alice Cooper was my first favorite artist really before the Sabbath obsession kicked in. _________________ I've got a 12 ton demon on my back Whispering shit in my brain

| I only like a few songs and most of those are from the Killer and Billion Dollar Babies albums but I went for Killer but could have gone either way on those two. Hate hearing him in interviews, he always seems to want to take credit for everything, whether it be stage shows or inventing heavy metal. I find him a bit irritating. |

| Wel I'll probably be the only one here but I love mostly everything by Alice Cooper, even the very strange albums he recorded in the early 80's... And I must confess I love Trash (probably the only FM-friendly hard-rock record I'll ever love !), ha ha. Seen him live just once, three years ago, and the show was great. Absolutely predictable, yes, but the man is in great shape, his daughter is a wonderful performer, and the musicians were top-notch. It was... nice. I admit the idea of Alice cooper being nice can be shocking, yeah ; absolute halloween rock'n'roll circus, yeah. But I still like that. More than any Kiss show, actually...
Anyway, I voted for Billion Dollar Babies, but it was difficult to choose. _________________ http://www.reverbnation.com/pinballlizard http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pinball-Lizard-The-Acid-Kings/345988102081514

Everything from 77 onwards is overrated, not so much the earlier stuff but I agree a lot of his albums are overrated. I heard his last one and I turned it off halfway through, didn't like it at all and people say its his best album in 10 years. I gave up on Cooper in 1980 when he released the Flush The Fashion album, that was the last straw for me but I think Brutal Planet was good._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

I hear ya, some of his albums are not that much different from Elton John or any other middle of the road artist from the 70's. Some of his songs are just sickening really. |

Most people praised this record because some members of the old Alice Cooper band are featured... But it's absolutely not his best record from the last ten years ! "the eyes of alice cooper", "dirty diamonds" (and "along came a spider" too) are much tighter, even if each album contains only some really good songs ; these are albums that can be listened in their whole with pleasure, while the new one is a patchy effort at being "modern". And to my ears, any of these records is better than "Lace & Whiskey"...
But anyway, yeah, Brutal Planet was good. An obvious attempt at capturing the audience of Marylin Manson or Rob Zombie, but good nonetheless. _________________ http://www.reverbnation.com/pinballlizard http://www.facebook.com/pages/Pinball-Lizard-The-Acid-Kings/345988102081514

Oh yeah, I think Lace and Whiskey was his worse album of the 70's, no question. Even Go To Hell is better and that isn't great either. Brutal Planet was at least heavy but a bit overly modern for Cooper. I still think it is his best album overall since the 70's. For more recent albums though, I haven't liked any of them._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

| After the original Cooper band split, he got stuck to a formula. It started when he released "Only Women Bleed" as a single. He did again with "You and Me" and so on. His albums of the 75-79 era almost sound cabaret. I do like a lot of what is on those albums but he cashed in on whatever was happening at the time like Disco. Welcome To My Nightmare was his last classic album imo. |

I would have to agree, there is really only one song on Nightmare I don't like where as the albums after that are full of songs I can't stand. _________________ I've got a 12 ton demon on my back Whispering shit in my brain

| I was only I think about 12 when Nightmare came out so I thought it was a pretty creepy album and I loved it. When Go To Hell came out, I rushed out and bought it and was totally disappointed. I hate those broadway show tunes he started doing, "Give a kid a Break" and all that crap, then there are the ballads - ewwww..horrible crap and then there was his attempts at disco-rock, again, pretty terrible stuff. _________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

In a weird perspective I think Cooper is still underrated (mainly his early carrier) other mainstream artists of this kind became huge...

This is a little bit off topic, but I hate all artist who became famous just because they shock people and not because of their musical talent...Alice Cooper obviously has it, but many others don't have it, including that Manson. _________________ The music lives outside reality's walls And we are it'd door to our dimension It comes through our emotions It runs through our art And come out from our veins From our pains ( Novembre)

| I think in the early 70's, he couldn't do wrong then once his split from his original band, he lost direction. He did Hollywood show tunes, disco, new wave and none of it work IMO. Every his harder, heavier songs started to sound weak and thin. From The Inside was his last listenable album for a long long time and even that is a patchy album at best. _________________ http://www.doommantia.com |

| I listened to nothing but Sabbath and Cooper for a quite some time there in the 70's. I can still remember Alice being so drunk at one show in 73, he was pissing over the side of the stage and quickly fell onto a poor woman in the front row, still holding his dick and peeing straight into the womans face. The woman freaked and ran out of the hall. I saw him another time in 75 and sang great the entire night but did it leaning against a Marshall stack most of the night because he was too drunk to walk. |

I saw him twice in the 70's, 76 & 78 and he was obviously drunk both times. I heard another pissing story about Alice. One time he was trying to pee into a beer bottle at the side of the stage but dropped the bottle and pee ran all over the stage which Dennis Dunaway eventually, wearing platform heels slipped on and put a big crack up the neck of his bass. Damn old Alice needed to learn how to hold it in lol._________________ http://www.doommantia.com |
